Assessors approve excise abatements; rental registry plan advances

GREENFIELD — Board of Assessors approves excise abatements and advances rental registry plan. Chair Jim Geisman and members Chuck Green and Jeremy Ebersole unanimously approved motor vehicle excise abatements from March 5 through March 18, 2026. Chief Assessor Christina Summers reported on Councilor Garrett's proposed rental registry, which will have the Health Department as primary administrator with the Assessor's Office sharing information and adding fines to property tax bills.

The Elderly and Disabled Taxation Fund has raised $2,500 since its March launch, while the arrangement requires identifying sole owners of rental properties through limited liability corporations.
