Assessors approve excise abatements; state audit finds revaluation cycle lagging

Greenfield Board of Assessors approves vehicle excise abatements amid revaluation urgency. Board Chair Jim Geisman, Board Member Chuck Green, and Board Member Jeremy Ebersole (joining virtually) unanimously approved motor vehicle excise abatements covering February 18 through March 4 at the March 4 meeting. A February 19 visit from a Massachusetts Department of Revenue representative disclosed that Greenfield is behind on its FY 2027 property revaluation cycle and must secure outside assistance to submit data to the state's Division of Local Services Gateway system.
The Board is negotiating a FY 2027 revaluation assistance contract through the Finance Department.
