Conservation Commission flags wetland concerns on Butternut Street
Conservation Commission · Meeting of May 12, 2026
Greenfield Conservation Commission flags wetland conflicts on Butternut Street mining expansion. Chair Elizabeth Garofalo led the commission in voting 4-0 to send formal comments to the Zoning Board on three special permit applications for Mackin Construction property, noting that proposed earth removal and blasting operations overlap mapped wetlands and intermittent streams protected under state law. The commission required applicants to file current wetland delineations and detailed impact plans; a prior delineation from 2008 has expired.
Work within resource areas will require Notice of Intent filings with the Conservation Commission.
