Planning Board reviews guidelines for downtown development and trees

GREENFIELD — Planning Board examines revised tree guidelines and new design standards for downtown areas. The board reviewed the Tree Committee's revised Tree Planting Plan and draft Design Guidelines for the Central Business District, prepared by member Victor Moschella. Director of Planning and Development Ella Wise cautioned that comprehensive guidelines might prove difficult to administer and could contain value statements requiring public deliberation.

Members discussed separating performance measures that can be required from style guidelines that can be encouraged.
