Greenfield Conservation Commission approves minutes, plans Griswold outreach

Greenfield Conservation Commission begins renewing the expiring Griswold forest management plan with a public-outreach push. Members, guided by commission forester Emily Boss, discussed applying for a state Community Forestry Program grant to fund four to six public walks at Griswold this year, covering topics from oak regeneration to accessible trails, before drafting a new plan focused on climate resilience. The commission approved its February 24 minutes 3-0-1, with Boss abstaining.
Erika LaForme proposed a QR code or paper feedback form at the trailhead. Conservation Agent Jessica Siegel confirmed a $4,190 Franklin Conservation District donation for the Miller's Meadow restoration project is now finalized after Mayor Virginia Desorgher signed the transfer memo. Siegel also updated members on a Franklin Regional Council of Governments grant, now rescoped after the retirement of former Director of Planning Eric Twarog, to study the Green River corridor.
