Greenfield's Zoning Board of Appeals voted 4-1 to deny an abutter's appeal of a building permit decision on a six-unit Country Club Road project, with Chair David Singer dissenting. Clerk Debra Gilkes said the disputed 20-foot building shift, made to meet setback rules, "doesn't feel substantial to me," while appellant Eric Sadler argued the building now "is literally looking into my backyard." Separately, the board unanimously approved William Jones's special permit to convert a 14 Miner Street office into a single-family home, and let Clinical and Support Options Inc. withdraw a generator-permit amendment after the nonprofit secured a contracted backup unit; the group's new supportive-housing building has 29 of 36 apartments rented. Planning Board Chair Jeff Souther also briefed members on draft downtown design guidelines ahead of a November 8 planning board vote.
