Greenfield Human Rights Commission goes bimonthly, skipping July and September through year-end. The five-member panel voted 5-0 Monday to meet only in June, August, October, November, and December for the remainder of 2026, a change driven by staff bandwidth constraints the mayor said affect all 51 city boards and commissions. Mayor Roxann Wedegartner appeared in person to address meeting decorum, urging members to follow Robert's Rules after watching the April meeting twice, and said school curriculum complaints belong before the School Committee, not the commission.
Staff identified as Aaron clarified that complaints involving minors will not be shared with commission co-chairs due to strict privacy law, and may never be made public. The commission also discussed pursuing a reading list on racial equity and anti-racism curricula before August, tabling at the Greenfield Farmers Market in July, and finalizing plaques for the 2024 and 2025 Human Rights Award winners, estimated to cost a few dollars each, through an engraver found via Clary Jewelers, with a remaining unspent budget of roughly $150 to $160 that does not carry into the new fiscal year beginning July 1.
