Finance Committee · Meeting of June 1, 2026
Greenfield's Budget, Finance, and Warrants Subcommittee reviewed May expenditures and flagged transportation and procurement concerns at its June 1 meeting. Subcommittee Chair Childs, Member Webb, and one additional member examined a $1,619.34 Amazon order for Federal Street school that was explained as net-zero after insurance reimbursement for water damage, and questioned three restorative practices invoices totaling $14,750 that an administrator said flow through a Franklin County regional grant for which the district serves as fiscal agent. Multiple contracted transportation vendor invoices from Empowerment Transportation and Gurley Inc.
Transportation prompted a member to ask about plans to replace vendor contracts with district-owned Ford Transit-style vans capable of carrying 10 to 14 students; administrators confirmed bids on both lease and purchase options were arriving that week, with a potential city Green Community requirement for fully electric vehicles identified as an unresolved complication. Landscaping invoices for the high school drew questions about competitive quote documentation, with the chair asking that solicitation records be made accessible, and an administrator citing a 2022 inspector general ruling raising the threshold for required quotes under MGL Chapter 30B from $10,000 to $100,000.
