Greenfield Community Relations Committee Plans Boards Fair, Handbook, and Paid Internship

Other Committee · Meeting of June 15, 2026

Greenfield's Community Relations Committee advances plans for a spring 2027 boards and commissions fair, a city council handbook, and a paid MassHire internship. Meeting June 15 with four of five members present, the committee reviewed a draft outreach document for the proposed "committee fair," which would invite all 51 of the city's boards and commissions to set up informal tables for residents, with a target venue of the Johnsbury location or city library. Committee member Sarah Brown reported that staff contacts had responded to early outreach "within 24 hours, very enthusiastic." On the internship front, Brown said a MassHire representative named Zach confirmed the program offers up to 500 hours of paid work at $15 per hour, a total potential value of $7,500, for young adults between roughly 18 and 26, with a fall 2026 start feasible if the city agrees to pursue it.

The committee also discussed a draft city council handbook modeled on Northampton's, with Finance Director Stephen Nemberkow flagged as a necessary reviewer of the finance section before any public release.
