Greenfield Opiate Commission Tables Grant Framework, Awaits Budget Projections

Greenfield's Opiate Use and Prevention Commission tabled its draft grant application framework Monday, voting unanimously to defer final decisions on award tiers, amounts, and review timelines until members have a clearer picture of projected annual revenue. The commission currently holds just over $600,000 in opioid settlement funds and expects a total of $1.7 million over 17 years from known settlements, with Purdue Pharma and four other distributor payments still pending. Chair Sarah and Commissioner Abby agreed to prepare an annual revenue snapshot before the July 20 meeting; the Office of Inspector General is also expected at that meeting to advise on Chapter 30B procurement requirements for the draft framework's top $25,000 organizational grant tier.

Earlier in the meeting, Liz Wynott of RISE Massachusetts described how the Mosaic opioid abatement program structures its community grant reviewer pools, with commissioners reaching an informal consensus to handle first-year reviews themselves while building toward a community reviewer model. The commission also voted unanimously to direct Commissioner Anna to explore establishing an official OUP Commission email address with the city's IT department for receiving future grant applications.
