School Committee · Meeting of September 9, 2026

Greenfield School Committee signs off on four union settlements, pauses AI policy. The committee voted 6-0 by roll call, with Virginia DeSorgher absent, to authorize Chair Stacey Sexton to sign settlement agreements covering transportation, cafeteria, custodial and administrative assistant staff after a 7:43 p.m. executive session. Members also postponed a pending AI-related policy until the district's new AI Advisory Work Group reports back, with member Elizabeth DeNeeve arguing "I don't think it will be useful" to act before then.

Vice Chair Ann Childs said fixing roughly 50 dead athletic field lights could run "closer to $30,000 to $50,000," against a $500,000 full LED upgrade. Members approved a roughly $600 eighth-grade trip to Washington, D.C., with one abstention, and congratulated Sexton on the Massachusetts Association of School Committees' 2025 All-State Award.
