GREENFIELD — The Greenfield School Committee voted 5-1 to accept a revised fiscal year 2027 budget reflecting a 5.35 percent increase. Business Manager Andy Paquette confirmed the figure matched the committee's March vote rather than the originally proposed 7.46 percent level-services increase; Member Melodie Goodwin cast the dissenting vote. A district staff presenter identified only as Sullivan reported Greenfield High School climbed to the 12th percentile statewide in state accountability rankings, up from the sixth percentile, and that the district has been designated as making "substantial progress" for a third straight year, meeting 56 percent of targets.
One in four Greenfield students remains chronically absent districtwide. Goodwin said "it's time for somebody to look at the attendance policy," citing unfilled special education positions she said leave "millions of dollars left over." The district's new superintendent outlined a yearlong listening tour ahead of a formal findings report tied to the 2028 strategic plan.
