Greenfield Ways and Means Committee approves 25 capital budget orders totaling more than $3.5 million for FY2027. All orders were approved unanimously by Councilors Bottomley, Sivinson-Alves, Williams, and Webb, covering infrastructure from a $700,000 water main replacement on Place Terrace to a $317,000 Water Department dump truck and $315,000 for a new screen at the water pollution control plant. Following the votes, the mayor and finance director presented the city's $70,024,736 FY27 operating budget, disclosing that free cash remains uncertified pending cleanup of accounting errors dating to 2016, including a $3 million journal entry that had been carried on the books for years.

The city carries roughly $54 million in outstanding debt, much of it in short-term bond anticipation notes, with only about $700,000 in principal paid down this fiscal year. The budget eliminates positions in recreation, dispatch, fire, police, finance, and clerical roles, partially offset by a move into the Group Insurance Commission that held the employee health insurance increase to 5 percent rather than a projected 19 percent.
