Other Committee · Meeting of July 23, 2026

Greenfield's Elderly and Disabled Taxation Fund Committee votes to drop a bid for Community Preservation Act money after a legal opinion found it barred. The city attorney's letter, reviewed at the July 23 meeting, found state law requires the fund's revenue to come from Greenfield taxpayers, prompting a unanimous 4-0 roll-call vote against pursuing CPA funds, with Jim Geisman, Mandy Whitten, Wahab and Patty Williams all voting yes. The fund's account balance stands at $8,894.01, boosted by $2,500 donations each from Greenfield Savings Bank and Greenfield Cooperative Bank.

Wahab flagged that the tax bill's donation checkoff box reads only "elderly and disabled," without specifying "tax fund." The committee is planning a Greenfield Business Association roundtable on August 14 and a Senior Center information session on August 21, and is weighing outreach to the Moose, Elks, Kiwanis and Rotary for member-level donations.
