Greenfield Committee Chairs Restructure Fall Meeting Dates, Flag $1,000 Legal Notice Cost

Other Committee · Meeting of August 4, 2026

Greenfield City Council Committee Chairs reshuffled their fall meeting schedule and raised a budget alarm over surging legal publication costs at their August 4 session. Council President Wandaloski announced that Ways and Means meetings will move to the first Tuesday of each month following committee chairs, a change proposed by Councilor Bullock to put more time between committee votes and full council action. City Clerk Scott disclosed that a single public hearing notice for a Dover Amendment zoning matter cost more than $1,000, telling members, "our budgets are lean," and asking them to group public hearing notices together to hold per-notice costs to roughly $250 to $280.

Councilor Bullock flagged a $180,769 supplemental financial order for GSET, tied to a budget discrepancy from the approved spending plan, that has yet to be formally submitted by the mayor's office and will be placed on Ways and Means under both first reading and discussion. The fall calendar is shaping up as especially dense, with a gender identity protection ordinance, a crowd control and public assemblies ordinance, a rental registry ordinance, and at least two zoning amendments all potentially reaching public hearing in September.
