GREENFIELD -- June 8, 2026, Greenfield's school policy subcommittee endorsed an AI community advisory group and postponed three policy items at its June 8 online meeting. The two-member quorum, Chair Elizabeth Deneve and Member Childs, with Member Deitman joining midway, voted unanimously to recommend that the full School Committee authorize the administration to form a community engagement task force on artificial intelligence before any formal policy language under IJNDB is drafted; the proposal, circulated in a memo by Assistant Superintendent Steven Sullivan, contained no timeline. Three items were deferred to July: an update on a resolution-style PDF handbook, an academic integrity policy motion prepared by Deitman, and a review of five tobacco-related policies that subcommittee members confirmed do not include the word "vaping" anywhere, a gap first flagged by high school students at a YELO conference.
